It's a Wrap.

It is certainly an unsettled time. We miss the sights and sounds of the rink, our teammates, and the routine of practices and games, but our focus is appropriately directed to the health and safety of our families, friends, communities, and country.

Let's take this opportunity to look back and smile at our 2019 - 2020 season.  We can reflect on the so many positive stories shared by our U8 - U14 coaches at their year-end banquet. We can take pride in knowing, collectively, our Sharks teams and players showed significant growth and improvement over the past six months, formed lasting friendships, and had a lot of fun in the process. And we can celebrate that all our teams, but our U14 Green Team were able to complete their year-culminating state tournament before the Coronavirus pandemic took hold.  We highlight our team success below, including the three CHC teams that qualified for Regionals with the hopes of earning a spot to play in the USA Hockey National Championships.

The decision to cancel the U14 Green Team's State Tournament and the Regional and National Championship Tournaments was disappointing for our affected players, families, and coaches. Still, this decision was made with their health and wellbeing in mind.

"Thankfully, most of our teams were able to end to their season by completing tournament play. The abrupt ending for a few of our teams is frustrating, and a big letdown for all.  We 're happy with the progress and growth across our entire program from our Learn to Play clinic to our national bound teams."

In addition to our on-ice success, we had a lot of fun at our Sharks-wide community events like practices with QU players, block seats at the USA vs. Canada Rivalry Series, CT Whale ticket giveaway, tubing at Powder Ridge, and giving back through hockey Helps the Hungry Food Drive.

As we wait things out, use this gift of time as an opportunity to improve as a person and player!  We launched our Quarantine Puck Challenge with some awesome prizes. We've also created a list of resources (see below) to help with building hockey skills, staying active, and keeping busy and engaged. Before you know it, we'll be back on the ice for 2020 - 2021 tryouts and our summer skills program.

Stay safe and healthy!
