Quarantine Puck Challenge Winners
As the coronavirus spread and we had to shelter at home, the Sharks launched a Quarantine Puck Challenge to encourage players to build skills as we wait for our communities to open and hockey to resume. The parameters were simple, log a maximum of 250 shots per day from March 24 – May 31, and perhaps most importantly, practice in good form!
The effort was outstanding. We had 37 participants, and over 70 days they shot 130,998! Congratulations to the top ten (we had a tie for #2):
1. Marcia Colten: 16,700
2. Betty Weske: 16,395
2. Margo Weske: 16,395
3. Avery Cairns: 15,160
4. Madeline Ford: 13,774
5. Jaimey DiNapoli: 10,051
6. Delia Vital: 5,874
7. Seamus Sullivan: 4,997
8. Tayte DePetris: 4,050
9. Elizabeth Carlson: 2,925
Our top ten will receive a Quarantine Puck Challenge shirt, and the winner gets a customized hockey bag from Xtreme Designs! Woot Woot!
We would also like to acknowledge the other participants. Regardless of the number of shots taken, hopefully, they enjoyed working on their skills and were able to practice the different types of shots, including wrist, snap, slap, and backhand. Dedicating time a few hours a week will make a big difference on the ice.
Although the Quarantine Puck Challenge is over, we encourage all players to continue to work on shooting, as we wait for the rinks to reopen.
