We've been through a lot since mid-March. We survived three months of being quarantined, and our daily routines now incorporate mask-wearing, social distancing, and constant hand sanitizing. Life has been slowly returning to normal: we shop, eat-out, and visit family and friends, albeit with caution and new rules. Perhaps the hardest part has been learning to accept the uncertainty associated with a global pandemic.
But with the start of our U14 - U19 Black season and the Summer Skills program, we've experienced the power of hockey. In our controlled skill sessions and practices, we see the positive impact on the girls of being back on the ice doing what they love with their friends. The rink is a space where they can momentarily forget COVID-19, release endorphins, and leave with a sense of accomplishment.
"They say a person just needs three things in life to truly be happy in this world: someone to love, something to do, and something to hope for."
Tom Bodett
We understand the fall school situation is a source of tremendous anxiety for everyone, and, as an organization, our goal is to give our players and families a sense of normalcy while being fully committed to delivering our planned programming SAFELY. Undoubtedly, circumstances WILL change throughout the season, and we will adjust appropriately. Keeping health and safety at the forefront, we will continue to work with USA Hockey and our rink partners to follow the guidelines and requirements.
We look forward to officially starting the season and hopefully being on the ice consistently thorough March (or as long as we can)! As always, we will be transparent with our families, responsive to their concerns, and proactive in our planning. Look for detailed communication about mandatory COVID protocols regarding masks, spectators, and dressing/locker rooms as we get closer to the clinic and travel hockey start dates.
Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding as we move forward. Please reach out to us with any questions, concerns, or thoughts.
