Learn to Play Clinics for girls ages 3 - 11 and 12 - 19 start on Oct. 4 in Northford
|
Whether you are on a travel team, potential or past clinic participant, or someone passionate about hockey, help us spread the word about our 20-session Learn to Play (LTP) Clinics that start Sunday, October 4th, in Northford.
Our Sand Sharks Clinic (ages 3 – 11) and Junior Sharks Clinic (ages 12 – 19) have built a reputation for being the best in the state. An experienced and certified team of coaches, including former D1 collegiate players and high school coaches, teach the fundamentals in a safe, age-appropriate, and challenging environment. Our exceptional growth (over 70 participants last season) reflects our quality of instruction and ability to make learning hockey fun!
Please note that girls new to the program that are 8 and under can participate in their first season for free!

2020-2021 Season Enhancements
|
|
As we head into our 12th clinic season, we continue to fine-tune the structure to optimize development and meet the growing demand!
We will use a more formalized level system to group our Sand Sharks. Participants will be placed into levels based on ability, ranging from those who don't know how to skate or require skating aids to those who are more competent skaters and are ready to build hockey-specific skills. Station-based drills will continue to be used. Coaches will tailor activities to the skill level of the group and move players fluidly between levels as appropriate.
Our Junior Sharks Clinic gives older girls a unique opportunity. Most LTP programs are designed for younger players under the age of 8, making our program one of the few options in New England for girls 11+ to learn the fundamentals of hockey. Seasoned instructors, many with high school coaching experience, teach hockey fundamentals. It's an excellent option for middle and high school girls new to hockey as well as those looking for skill development to prepare to participate in high school hockey. There are now two clinic sessions. We are excited to add another hour of ice time to meet the demand for our clinics. Our more novice Sand Sharks will skate in the first session (for example, from 3:05 - 4:05 pm), and our more seasoned Sand Sharks and Junior Sharks participate in the second session (for example, from 4:15 - 5:15 pm).
We will offer a COVID refund. If, for some reason, we are unable to hold any LTP sessions, we will give a 100% refund. If the season is canceled after we start, the refund will be prorated.
Additionally, we will skate out of Northford Ice Pavilion, the same rink that our travels teams use. Aside from its central location, the rink has excellent facilities, including a snack bar and onsite pro-shop. |

The Clinic and COVID-19
State and rink coronavirus mandates will impact aspects of our Learn to Play Clinics. Throughout the summer, coaches have been running Summer Skills Clinics and travel team practices and are experienced in keeping players safe and following the guidelines, on and off the ice. Because things change frequently, we will communicate the protocols to registered participants closer to the clinic start.
With that said, we encourage those interested in participating to register as we don't know if COVID requirements will limit the number of the players allowed on the ice.
