Let's go Sharks!
It’s official. All of our teams and clinics are on the ice – learning, playing, and loving hockey. Nothing is better than seeing the Sharks with five consecutive hours of ice time on Northford's TV monitor! We are thankful to be on the ice and hope to continue to be through the end of the season.

Hopefully, everyone read the Welcome Letter from Ed Rodham, our President and Director of Hockey Operations, earlier in the month. It’s great to reflect on how far we’ve come as an organization and where we are headed in the 2020 - 2021 season. We’re proud of our on-ice accomplishments, explosive growth to become the largest all-girls hockey organization in Southern Connecticut, unwavering commitment to player development, and amazing support from our families, volunteers, and Board.

As we dive into the 2020-2021 season, here are a few reminders:

  • COVID Policies: We expect that all families follow the Sharks' COVID policies and the rinks' guidelines where we play. We will continue to provide regular updates as the guidelines evolve to keep each other healthy and safe on the ice playing hockey.
  • Sportsmanship: We ask parents to act as role models, focusing on creating a positive and fun experience for our children. An essential piece of that equation is supporting your coaches’ philosophy, expectations, and guidelines.
  • SafeSport/Locker Room Policies:  We take player safety seriously and, per USA SafeSport, require certified volunteers to monitor the locker room during games and practices, including enforcing the no cellphone policy.  Click here to review the Sharks locker room policies.
  • Team Dynamics:  An important part of creating a positive experience for all revolves around the team environment. All players should feel supported, included, and respected. When that positive environment prevails, teams and individuals reach their potential. Being a good teammate – such as by placing team over self, leading by positive example, supporting each other, and treating teammates as we would like to be treated – not only translates to success on the ice but allows for personal growth. The absence of that respect and camaraderie can open the doors to bullying, something that we will not tolerate.
  • Development First:  As much as we all love to win, our coaches are focused on the team and player growth over the scoreboard.  We ask players to give 100% effort in practice, which is essential to improving as individuals and teams.

Let’s do our part to keep each other healthy and safe so our girls can stay on the ice and have a great season!
