Our Sand Sharks (4 - 11) and Junior Sharks (12 - 19) Learn to Play Clinics offer opportunties for girls of all ages to learn hockey.

Whether you are on a travel team, a potential or past clinic participant, or someone passionate about hockey, help us spread the word about our multi-week Learn to Play (LTP) Clinics that start Sunday, October 24th, in Northford.

Our Sand Sharks Clinic (ages 4 – 11) and Junior Sharks Clinic (ages 12 – 19) have built a reputation for being the best in the state. With over 70 participants last season, our exceptional growth reflects our quality of instruction and ability to make learning hockey challenging AND fun! An experienced and certified team of coaches, including former collegiate players and high school coaches, share their passion for hockey by teaching the fundamentals in a safe, age-appropriate, and inclusive environment.

Please note that girls new to the program that are 8 and under can participate in their first season for free!

If you have a friend, neighbor, or family member with a daughter that might like to give this great sport a try, share this email (click on the link at the top of the email). Let's give more girls the opportunity to play ice hockey!

2021-2022 Season Enhancements
As we head into our 13th clinic season, we fine-tune the structure to optimize development and meet the growing demand! Here are a few notable enhancements:

SAND SHARKS
  • Addition of Game Night. We've included eight Saturday cross-ice scrimmages to give our Sand Sharks the chance to put their newly learned skills to practice in a structured, fun game format.

  • Continuation of a level system. Given the range of age and ability within the clinic, our coaches will group similarly skilled players. Station-based drills will still be used, but players will travel with their groups, allowing the coaches to tailor activities to the group's skill level. Coaches will fluidly move players between levels as appropriate with the goal of optimizing their development.

JUNIOR SHARKS
  • A unique opportunity for older girls. Most LTP programs are designed for younger players under the age of 8, making our program one of the few options in New England for girls 11+ to learn the fundamentals of hockey. It's an excellent option for middle and high school girls new to hockey as well as those looking for skill development to prepare to participate in high school hockey. Click here for the USA Hockey spotlight about our Junior Sharks Clinic.

  • Dedicated ice time. Because of the growing demand for this clinic, we've given Junior Sharks their own ice time.  Full ice for participants allows our coaches to increase the complexity of drills, easily incorporate small game scrimmages and build skating endurance in preparation for team play.

Our Learn to Play clinics will take place at Northford Ice Pavilion, the same rink that our travels teams use. Aside from its central location, the rink has excellent facilities, including a snack bar and onsite pro-shop.
