Registration is open for the Sand Sharks and Junior Sharks hockey development clinics designed for girls new to hockey ages 4 - 19.

Shoreline Sharks, a non-profit all-girl youth hockey association, opened registration for its multi-week Learn to Play Hockey Sand Sharks (ages 4 – 11) and Junior Sharks (ages 12-19) Clinics.  The program runs from October 24 – March 20 and at Northford Ice Pavilion.

Experienced, certified coaches passionate about the sport, many of whom are former collegiate and high school players, teach the fundamentals of hockey using fun and engaging station-based drills and gameplay. The USA Hockey American Development Model (ADM), a proven systematic approach to age-appropriate skill development, guides the on-ice curriculum.

Bill Greim, Board Member and Founder of the Shoreline Sharks started the Learn to Play program 13 years ago and has been instrumental in its growth.  He explained, "Our mission is to provide opportunities for girls of all ages and abilities to learn to love and play hockey in a positive and inclusive environment. We've built a reputation for being one of the best hockey development programs in the state.  USA Hockey recognized our Junior Sharks Clinic for being one of the only Learn to Play Clinic options for girls 12 and older in New England."

The caliber of instruction combined with the centralized location drew a record number of participants from 30+ Connecticut towns last season.

Marketing Director and Team Manager Pam Miller added, "Season to season, we make enhancements to the clinic based upon feedback from parents and coaches. We're excited to add eight additional sessions for cross-ice scrimmages for our Sand Sharks to let them practice what they've learned while playing games. Our Junior Sharks gained usage of the full ice for their practices, allowing coaches to increase the complexity of drills, easily incorporate small game scrimmages and build skating endurance.  I love spending Sundays in the rink watching girls of all ages learning to play hockey.  Seeing their smiles and sense of accomplishment make me proud to be a part of the Shoreline Shark and their commitment to growing girls hockey in the state."

Both the Sand Sharks and Junior Sharks Clinics use a level system that groups players of similar abilities, allowing participants to advance at their own pace while ensuring they stay challenged, moving, and having fun while they are on the ice.

Tuition for the Learn to Play Clinics ranges from $400 - $500, depending upon the number of sessions in the program.  Girls 8 and under that are new to the program can participate in their first season for free.
