There is nothing better than the official start of the hockey season! It is exhilarating to see the players back on the ice doing what they love: competing, building lasting friendships, and working on growing individually and as a team over the course of the season.
With 13 travel teams, two clinics, over 300 players, 40 hours of practice ice a week, and participation in three hockey leagues, the Sharks continue to impact girls hockey in the state and beyond! The feedback from the first two weekends was that the rinks were buzzing and that the parent and player enthusiasm was contagious. We look forward to watching the teams improve over the season and have the opportunity to benchmark their development with the season-ending tournaments.
To play the game is great. To win the game is even greater. To love the game is the greatest of all.

We want to acknowledge our volunteers – it's almost impossible to estimate the hours that go into the planning and preparation for each hockey season. They say it takes a village... and it does. Our hockey operations arm secures and schedules ice time, finalizes coaching assignments, coordinates uniforms, and arranges for referees. Our coaches work on player development plans, game schedules, and practice plans. Our team managers organize parent volunteers, collect paperwork, and coordinate activities that encourage fun and team bonding. And, that's just to list the obvious! Truly, a heartfelt thanks to all of those who make it happen.
Just a reminder that the Connecticut Hockey Conference, the governing body for youth hockey in the state, mandates that ALL players, coaches, referees, volunteers, family members, and spectators wear masks when inside a facility at USA Hockey/CHC sanctioned events. Essentially, that translates to everyone at ALL Sharks events, games, and practices. As we know from the previous stops and starts due to the pandemic, we must follow the rules to keep each other safe and our players on the ice!
Have a great season!
