Former Sharks Kick-off Sixth Annual Hockey Helps the Hungry Virtual Food Drive

We're proud of former Sharks Sophia Rodham and Jenna Guglielmi for organizing the Sixth Annual Hockey Helps the Hungry Food Drive to benefit Connecticut Foodshare (the newly merged Connecticut Foodbank and Foodshare).

The fundraiser timing is perfect, as donations typically drop off after the holidays. COVID and supply chain issues have increased food costs and the importance of helping Connecticut Foodshare as they provide record amounts of food through distribution centers, mobile pantries, and meal programs.

Big or small, all donations add up and make a difference. The 2022 virtual food drive raised $6,284! We had donors from 8 boarding schools, 6 hockey clubs (including a ton of Sharks families, of course), 4 college players, and a Connecticut Whale player!

Reaching deeper into the hockey community with the hopes of exceeding the last year's donations is the goal for this year's virtual food drive. Thanks for supporting this great cause and helping us spread the word.

Last year, the Patch wrote an article about the food drive, click here to read.
