Our Junior Sharks (ages 12 - 19) and Sand Sharks (ages 4 - 11) Learn to Play Hockey Clinics run from Oct. 16 - March 6 at Northford Ice Pavilion.

A limited number of spaces are still available for the Shoreline Sharks 20--week Learn to Play (LTP) Hockey Clinics for girls ages  4 – 11 (Sand Sharks) and 12-19 (Junior Sharks). The clinics run on Sundays from October 16 to March 6 at Northford Ice Pavilion.

Ed Rodham, Director of Hockey Operations, explained, "Most organizations offer one clinic focused on kids 10 and under. Aside from the typical LTP clinic, we offer our dedicated Junior Sharks program designed for girls 12 – 19 in support of our belief that you are never too old to learn hockey. Our instructors, who played college hockey and coached high school teams,  tailor on-ice activities to the age and ability of the participants. Our program is so unique that USA Hockey recognized our Junior Sharks Clinic as one of the only Learn to Play Clinic options for girls 12+ in New England."

Participants can expect certified coaches passionate about the sport who teach the fundamentals of hockey using fast-moving, fun station-based drills and gameplay. A formalized skill progression system increases puck touches and accelerates learning. USA Hockey's American Development Model (ADM), a proven systematic approach to age-appropriate skill development, guides the on-ice curriculum.

"We survey our coaches and parents at the end of each season and make enhancements based upon their feedback. Heading into the 2022-2023 clinic, we've modified our on-ice approach to give our younger Sand Sharks extra practice time with Saturday game day sessions. Our older Junior Sharks gained their own ice time so coaches can execute more advanced drills and scrimmages. Our clinics are a great way to try hockey with very little commitment," noted Pam Miller, Director of Marketing.

The caliber of instruction combined with the centralized location drew a record number of participants from 27 Connecticut towns last season.

Board Member, Coach, and Co-Founder of the Shoreline Sharks added, "Our LTP program started 14 years ago with goals of inclusion and opportunity. Our reputation for being one of the best hockey development programs in the state is well-deserved. Seeing the smiles and sense of achievement on the faces of our 70+ participants each Sunday afternoon makes me proud to be a coach."

Tuition for the Learn to Play Clinics ranges from $400 - $500, depending upon the number of sessions in the program. Girls 8 and under that are new to the program can participate in their first season for free.

Registration is rolling; however, space is limited.
