The Shoreline Sharks organization is thrilled to unveil three programs this fall, designed to inspire and develop girls interested in learning the sport of hockey. From novice skaters to aspiring players with a passion for the game, there are options for a range of ages and skill levels.
House Development Program
The House Development Program (HDP) provides a specialized hockey experience for girls aged 5-10, bridging the gap between Learn to Play clinics and competitive travel hockey. This program emphasizes intensive skill development in a nurturing, team-centric environment, enabling participants not only to enhance their abilities but also to foster a love for the sport.
Program Highlights:
Led by certified coaches utilizing the USA Hockey American Development Model (ADM), players will participate in practices that focus on developing skating technique, improving puck control, and enhancing teamwork. All participants are introduced to the goaltending position as well. Space is limited to ensure focused skill development.
Sand Sharks Learn to Play (LTP) Clinic Powered by NY Rangers
In partnership with the New York Rangers, the Sand Sharks Learn to Play Hockey Clinic welcomes girls ages 4-11 to develop their foundational hockey skills in a fun, safe and supportive environment. A Rangers coach leads a station-based practice that focuses on skating while introducing basic hockey skills.
Program Highlights:
First-time participants will receive complimentary head-to-toe equipment, including skates! This program emphasizes age-appropriate groupings, allowing for tailored instruction and a focus on cooperation and sportsmanship.
Junior Sharks Clinic
Recognizing that it's never too late to start playing hockey, the Junior Sharks Clinic is ideal for girls ages 12-19 who are new to the sport or seeking to refine their skills. This program combines skill learning with game play to prepare participants for future team play.
Program Highlights:
Participants will start with the basics of skating and progress through puck handling to game play, culminating in a full-ice scrimmage, the perfect capstone for their journey. Experienced players who participated in college hockey and coached high school hockey lead the clinic. They will assess each player's readiness for team play, providing pathways for those interested in travel hockey.
