The Shoreline Sharks Youth Hockey Association announces the appointment of Sophia Agostinelli as the new Director of Hockey Operations. With an extensive background as an athlete, coach, and mentor, Sophia will oversee the program’s hockey-related activities.
In her new role, Sophia will focus on player development, coaching, and program management. She will work closely with coaches, players, and parents to cultivate a positive and enriching environment for all participants.
A Massachusetts native, Sophia began her hockey journey playing youth hockey for the Lady Flames. Her dedication and talent took her to Holy Cross, where she excelled as a four-year Division 1 athlete. Following her collegiate career, she showcased her hockey skills professionally, playing for the Hannover Scorpions in Germany and the Connecticut Whale in the United States. Additionally, Sophia represented Team USA in ball hockey at the 2022 and 2024 World Championships.
Her extensive coaching experience spans various ages and skill levels, reflecting her passion for developing the next generation of athletes. She has had significant coaching roles, including instructing learn-to-skate programs at the Fairfield Ice Academy and serving as a Tier I and Tier II Head Coach at Mid Fairfield Connecticut Stars for the past 8 years. Beyond her coaching roles in ice hockey, she has also functioned as an Assistant Lacrosse Coach at Fairfield Ludlowe and the University of Bridgeport. Additionally, she has head coached at multiple club lacrosse programs such as the CT Grizzlies, Surge, CT Wolves, Westport PAL, and Fairfield Youth Lacrosse. This past year, she coached the Team USA Ball Hockey Masters team for the 2025 World Championships.
Demonstrating her commitment to the growth and excellence of the sport, Sophia serves as a coach developer for USA Hockey. She is a Level 4 USA Hockey-certified coach. Outside of the rink, she is a Lab Manager at Yale’s Keck Microarray Lab.
