Junior Sharks Learn to Play Hockey Clinic

Girls from Learn to Play Clinic before a scrimmage

2025-2026 Junior Sharks Clinic

20 WEEK CLINIC: SEPTEMBER 28 - MARCH 1

8-WEEK CLINIC: SEPTEMBER 28 - NOVEBER 30

APPROACH
In support of our belief that you are never too old to learn to play hockey, our Junior Sharks Clinic targets older girls (12 years and above) who are new to the sport. Whether they are considering playing high school hockey or want to try it, the program will prepare participants for team play.

Using a mixture of drills and small-area games, the girls will start with the basics and end the session with a full-ice scrimmage. In just 20 sessions, the girls will be comfortable skating and puck handling, understand the basics of hockey, and gain a sense of accomplishment.

OVERIVEW

  • Girls ages 12 - 19
  • 20 sessions, Sunday afternoons (4:30 pm - 5:30 pm)
  • An additional 8-session option for girls looking to tune up for the high school hockey season
  • One of the only LTP programs in CT designed for older girls
  • Created for girls new to hockey (skating experience encouraged, but not required)
  • Led by former high school coaches and collegiate players
  • Designed to prepare participants for team play
  • Full hockey equipment and a USA Hockey membership required
  • Tuition: $725/20 Weeks or $350/8 Weeks

CURRICULUM
Experienced coaches lead the clinic. Participants begin with skating, focusing on forward stride, edges, crossovers, and stopping. The girls will then progress to hockey skills, including puck handling, passing, and shooting. Small-area games conclude the session, allowing players to practice their skills in a game-like environment. The final phase brings it all together, incorporating positioning, rules, and teamwork.

The clinic ends with a full ice scrimmage, an inspiring finale for our Junior Sharks. For those interested in exploring travel hockey, our coaches will assess the players' readiness for team play.

REQUIREMENTS
Basic skating experience is recommended, but not required, to participate.  Ideally, players should be able to skate unassisted and get up after falling.  The coaching team is experienced in teaching skating techniques and will adjust the on-ice activities as they build this critical hockey skill.

All players must register with USA Hockey for insurance purposes ($60 -$70) and have full hockey gear.

REGISTRATION
Space is limited, so register today.
Should we reach capacity, interested participants will be added to a waitlist. Tuition must be paid before the first session. No refunds.
