OCTOBER 3 - FEBRUARY 27
In support of our belief that you are never too old to learn how to play hockey, our 20-session Junior Shark Clinic targets older girls (12+) new to hockey. Whether they are thinking about playing high school hockey or just want to try the sport, the program will prepare participants for team play.
Using a mixture of drills and small area games, the girls will start with the basics and end the session with a full ice scrimmage. In just 20 sessions, the girls will be comfortable skating and puck handling, understand the basics of hockey and gain a sense of accomplishment.
The clinic is taught by former girl's high school varsity coaches: Lauren Wiggins (Branford) and Ross Shepherd (Madison). Participants start with skating, working on forward stride, edges, crossovers, and stopping. The girls will move on to hockey skills, including puck handling, passing, and shooting. Small-area games happen at the end of the session to allow players to practice their skills in a game-like environment. The final phase puts it all together, incorporating positioning, rules, and teamwork.
The clinic ends with a full ice scrimmage, an inspiring finale for our Junior Sharks. For those wanting to explore travel hockey, our coaches will assess the players for readiness for team play.
Participants from our 2019-2020 Junior Sharks Clinic.
We are committed to creating a positive experience for participants and their families. Our coaches welcome the opportunity to teach your daughter to skate and play, while hopefully fostering a passion for the great game of hockey. Today, a majority of our travel team players started in our development program.
