(Sand Sharks Clinic)
SESSION 1: OCTOBER 1 - DECEMBER 3
SESSION 2: DECEMBER 10 - FEBRUARY 25
Please note that our Session 1 start date was pushed back to October 1 to allow first-time participants time to receive the hockey equipment.
For the 2023-2024 season, we've partnered with the New York Rangers to offer two 10-week Learn to Play Hockey sessions for girls 4 - 11.
A former New York Ranger and a team of Shoreline Sharks coaches will lead on-ice instruction. Sand Sharks will learn the basics of hockey, including skating, shooting, and passing. First-time participants will receive complimentary gear: a helmet with a cage, shoulder pads, elbow pads, hockey pants, shin guards, hockey skates, a hockey stick, a jersey, and socks.
A level system will be used to group players by their ability to accelerate development. Once participants demonstrate readiness and competency, they will move to the next level. Aside from keeping players engaged and growing, levels allow coaches to tailor the cadence and challenge of the drills to match the ability.
As players advance, concepts of cooperation, teamwork, fair play, and sportsmanship are introduced.
Basic skating experience is recommended for those looking to participate in the clinic's Learn to Play (LTP) section. Ideally, players should be able to skate unassisted and get up after falling.
A Learn to Skate (LTS) section is a part of the clinic; however, we recommend that those without skating skills take an LTS session at their local skating rink prior to the start of this clinic so that participants can learn hockey.

We are committed to creating a positive experience for participants and their families. Our coaches welcome the opportunity to teach your daughter to skate and play, while hopefully fostering a passion for the great game of hockey. Today, a majority of our travel team players started in our development program.
