U14 & U16/19 CGHL TEAMS
WONDERLAND OF ICE (BRIDGEPORT)
The Shoreline Sharks, an all-girls youth hockey program, is partnering with the Wonderland Wizards to provide team options for families interested in exclusively playing girls hockey or dual-rostering with an all-girls program at the Wonderland of Ice.
For the 2024-25 season, we anticipate two Sharks teams being based at Wonderland: a U16/19 team coached by Matt Rowley and a U14 team coached by Matt Sather. Both teams will participate in the Connecticut Girls Hockey League (CGHL), a primarily state-based league.
Younger girls playing co-ed hockey can now join an all-girls team in the Bantam/U14 age group while continuing to have the co-ed experience. Additionally, this unlocks access to higher levels of play for future seasons through the Shoreline Sharks, a program dedicated to girls' hockey since its founding more than 20 years ago. The Sharks offer various competitive options, including national championship-bound Tier II teams league play.
The Shoreline Sharks' Northford offering remains unchanged. It includes teams at all age brackets (U8 - U12), participation in three leagues (CHC, NEGHL, and CGH), and Tier II options.
The chart below shows the non-national-bound U14 and U16/19 Wonderland tryout times. These two teams will hold tryouts at Wonderland of Ice in Bridgeport.

Why are you partnering with the Wonderland Wizards?
Fairfield County doesn’t have any all-girls recreational/development hockey programs. By partnering, they can leverage our expertise as a 20-year all-girls organization while playing out of a more geographically convenient rink. Wonderland players will have a chance to experience the Sharks organization, which can provide more opportunities, including access to national-bound play.
What is the benefit for the Shoreline Sharks?
It supports our mission to grow girls' hockey in the state by providing opportunities for girls to advance to their next level of play. We are fully committed to running all-girls teams, now and in the future.
What are the Wonderland-based Sharks teams offered?
Wonderland will have two CGHL teams, U14 and U16/19. These are the only all-girls teams offered at Wonderland for the upcoming season.
How does this impact the Sharks teams?
It doesn’t. We continue to field Tier II (CHC), NEGHL, and CGHL teams based out of Northford at all age brackets (U8 - U19).
Players who prefer the Bridgeport location or aspire to play on a NEGHL or Tier II team are welcome to try out at the appropriate rink. Please contact info@shorelinesharkshockey.com to discuss the logistics.
Are the Shoreline Sharks skating out of the Wonderland of Ice?
The Sharks have a great relationship with Northford and have no plans to change rinks in the foreseeable future. This partnership is about adding two teams to our existing offering to give girls in Southeastern CT all-girls teams options.
Are players encouraged to dual-roster on Wonderland’s co-ed teams?
Dual rostering is an individual player choice. We believe that the competitiveness of girls' hockey today is outstanding and provides the level of development and success for those looking to play in high school, college, or beyond. We also support and work with families looking for a dual-roster experience.
Will the Sharks pursue other partnerships?
The Shoreline Sharks Board of Directors expects to explore similar partnerships with other hockey organizations.
